Solar PV

Can you afford not to go solar?

It’s cheaper than you think to generate your own FREE electric. Book your FREE no obligation survey now.

Solar panels are a great investment for the future. Not only will they help you save on energy bills and protect you against rising fuel prices, the government’s feed in tariff also means you will receive tax-free payments for the electricity you generate and also for the electricity you export back to the grid.

Solar panel electricity systems, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don’t need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting.

FEED-IN TARIFF

The Feed-In Tariff scheme was launched in Great Britain on 1st April 2010. Under this scheme energy suppliers have to make regular payments to householders and communities who generate their own electricity from solar electricity panels (PV).

Updated Tariff from 1st October 2018

If you are eligible to receive the Feed-In Tariff then you will benefit in 3 ways:
  • Generation Tariff – the Solar PV installations provides a set rate paid by the energy supplier for each kWh of electricity you generate for 20 years.
  • Export Tariff – you will earn a further 5.24p for each kWh exported back to the National Grid.
  • Energy bill savings – you don’t have to buy in as much electricity from your supplier due to your own generation.
  • MCS Approved Installer - ELC54089 To qualify for the Feed-In Tariff scheme you need to use an MCS Accredited installer, such as UK Alternative Energy. We understand the benefits of the system, and how it can work best for you.

    • Solar PV arrays are fitted to your roof and also can be installed on walls, mounted on poles, or fixed to frames in open land.
    • Radiation from the sun falls on the surface of a PV cell which generates a DC electric current.
    • The DC current builds as it flows through the modules that make up the array, before it is channelled away via the cabling to an inverter.
    • The inverter converts this DC current into AC current, which is then seamlessly fed into the existing building electricity system for use on-site or for export to the grid.
    • You then get the benefits of generating your own electricity.

    Optional Extras

Eddi (Hot Water Controller) uses surplus electricity generated by your Solar PV panels to heat your hot water rather than exporting it to the grid. This fantastic product is not only a British product, it's a Lincolnshire product!
