About The Project

System Size: 2x 16 kW Model: Samsung EHS Renewable Heat (kWhrs): 18,272

Apple Tree Nursery in Witham St Hughs was a new build by local Construction Contractors Gelder Group.  UK Alternative Energy worked closely with Nigel Smith Plumbing and Mechanical Services to provide the Air Source Heat Pumps alongside the Nursery plumbing.

Technology installed: two 16kw Samsung EHS air source heat pumps, 100 litre buffer tank and 150 litre hot water cylinder.

The Samsung air source heat pumps were installed to the rear of the Nursery on brackets off the floor.
The lower operating temperatures of the heat pumps work efficiently with the underfloor heating system installed. As the underfloor heating system works at 45 degrees. The unit also heats the hot water after a 10 degree drop which gives the Nursery constant hot water.

The system has been set up as a master-slave system which means the second unit only comes on when the outside temperature drops below a set point. This increases the efficiency of the system as well as keep running costs low.
