The Problem

Our client wanted to reduce their reliance on the grid, while maximising self-consumption through the seamless integration of a Solar PV system and a Tesla Powerwall 2. Support was also needed to acquire local DNO approval for grid connection.

The Solution

This project is the perfect example of how alternative energy solutions can work together to make self consumption an incredibly achievable goal. Here we have 20x300w all black mono panels, creating a 6 kWp Solar PV system that produces an estimated annual generation of 5,315 kWh.

While seeking permission to be able to connect this size system to the grid, our customer also wanted the team to see if it was possible to also have a Tesla Powerwall 2 battery storage system. Following the local DNO approval, this customer now has a 6 kWp Solar PV system providing electricity to his house with any surplus electricity being stored in his 13.5 kWh battery storage system. During the night, this customer will be able to discharge up to 5kW of electric from the battery before having to import from the grid if his house load goes above 5kW.

This seamless integration of solar power and battery storage in this project showcases how innovative energy solutions can empower homeowners to maximise their energy independence and reduce reliance on the grid.
