The Problem

Showcasing the true potential of alternative energy – one project that does it all? The UK Alternative Energy team took matters into their own hands on this build.

The Solution

A true belief in the products we install is a huge part of what sets UK Alternative Energy apart from other providers. The team lives and breathes sustainable energy solutions, so much so that they harness alternative technologies within their own homes and projects too.

In the case of this Binbrook property, UK Alternative Energy founder and director Derrick Denton and Operations Manager Peter Sawyer, embarked on a personal project with their sister company Alternative Haus Ltd, which saw them build a sustainable, low energy bungalow in the lovely village of Binbrook.

Using their collective knowledge of the industry, they wanted to build a timber frame house that while having a traditional appearance would perform sustainably to demonstrate the effectiveness of a low energy home.

Incorporated in their build was a 2.24kW integrated Solar PV system, a Panasonic Air Source Heat Pump with an Underfloor Heating system installed throughout, Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) and a 1,500 litre Rainwater Harvesting system – which collects and repurposes filtered rain water to flush the toilet, feed the washing machine and provide a water supply for the outside tap.
