The Problem

Grinter House, a sheltered housing facility in Lincoln, wanted to improve the sustainability of its building while reducing operational energy costs. As part of a wider commitment to supporting community services, renewable energy was introduced to help manage long-term running expenses.

Public sector and community buildings often require reliable electricity for lighting, communal facilities, and day-to-day operations. Rising energy costs meant the organisation needed a solution that could generate renewable electricity while freeing up resources to support residents and community services.

The Solution

We installed a 3.7 kW solar PV system using JA Solar panels with Solis inverter technology on the main office and 0.74 kW solar PV system on each of the 16 bungalows. The system was designed to maximise available roof space and generate clean electricity throughout the day.

The solar installation now produces renewable electricity for the building, helping offset energy usage and reduce operational costs. The project supports the organisation’s sustainability goals while helping ensure resources can continue to be directed toward supporting residents.
